Cowles (Frederick) The Horror of Abbot’s Grange

and other stories
London, Frederick Muller, 1936.

First edition. 8vo. Original pale cloth lettered in green to spine. Dust-jacket, unpriced but listed as one of the 3/6 series.

Ghost Stories would be an inadequate description of Mr. Cowles’ book of weird and occult tales. Satanism and witchcraft, vampires and demonism, possession and black magic, are the ingredients of this volume. (jacket blurb); notoriously hard to find in the jacket, especially in such condition – this possibly an issue intended for sale overseas, without price. An interesting author, rediscovered in the 1970s by Richard Dalby and Hugh Lamb and brought back to public attention.
