A really nice first edition set of Tolkien’s epic masterpiece of fantasy fiction, the single most impactive work of this genre, and one that continues to inspire to this day, for example with the new Amazon series ‘The Rings of Power’. The jackets here are clean and bright, and have done a splendid job of protecting the books beneath.

Small name/date stamp on front endpapers, small private shelving stamp used by previous owner on rear of title-page, some light browning to endpaper, vol.I with a little minor spotting to outer edge; cloth very good; jackets with very small typewriter date on spines of dust jacket (hardly noticeable), with conservational brown paper tape reinforcements to inner hinges, not price clipped, few minor foxing marks and some minor creasing and fading, but really very good examples.
Folding map at end of each vol.
