Reeves (William) Satan’s Drome
£795
London, Robert Hale, [1937].
First edition. 8vo. Original brown cloth. Dust-jacket, correctly priced 7/6.
A very scarce, rather remarkable vampire title, set in Macedonia in the Balkan region, incorporating a huge serpent and a ghostly, vampiric priest. The author served with the Royal Army Service Corps in the Salonika Campaign of WWI, so knew the region well, and the work seems to draw darkly upon his experiences during the conflict. Publisher’s file copy. Robert Hale imprints from this period are not common, presumed due to relatively small print-runs.
