Poirot is summoned to Merlinville-sur-Mer in northern France by the wealthy Paul Renauld, only to arrive and find his client stabbed in the back and buried in a shallow grave near the golf links… This is the 1928 Bodley Head “Cheap Edition” at 2 shillings, a reissue predating Christie’s move to Collins with The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. These Bodley Head cheap-edition jackets are exceptionally scarce survivals.
