The March 1924 issue (no. 399) of The Strand Magazine, whose cover advertises a new story by W. W. Jacobs alongside A. Conan Doyle, “Sapper” and P. G. Wodehouse. Doyle’s contribution is chapter XI of his autobiography Memories and Adventures, serialised in the Strand from October 1923 and published in book form in 1924. This chapter, “On the Edge of a Storm”, covers his journey to the Egyptian frontier as a war correspondent in 1896, with “A Glimpse of Kitchener”, and is illustrated by H. K. Elcock. Wodehouse’s contribution is “Rodney Fails to Qualify”, one of his Oldest Member golf stories, later collected in The Heart of a Goof (1926).
