Some light-offsetting to cloth from the jacket, which is a little creased and frayed, but overall an attractive thing.

London, John Bale, Sons & Danielsson, 1935.
First edition. 8vo. Original green cloth. Dust-jacket, priced 7/6.
An agreeable rarity. John Bale, Sons & Danielsson were primarily medical and scientific printers – the imprint of tropical medicine journals and hospital reports – and only seemingly published a few fiction titles. The story follows the Reverend John Hawksley through South Africa in the latter half of the 19th century. The jacket with its rather phallocentric artwork to front panel is certainly striking; the back panel list a series of other fiction titles, many by authors, or featuring contributors, with a medical background.
