The Creeps series (1920s–1930s) introduced British readers to a mix of American and British weird fiction and is now highly sought after by collectors. Birkin later became known as a writer of cruel, psychologically driven horror; this early editorial work helped build his reputation. Copies of the first edition in jacket are scarce, as the low-cost 2/6 dust-jackets were often discarded.
