Carr (John Dickson) The Burning Court.

First edition thus.
London, Hamish Hamilton, 1948.

The only one of Dickson’s Carr’s novels with overt supernatural content (noted in Bleiler). It concerns the death of Miles Despard who was buried in a private crypt beneath the chapel and how the body goes missing from the coffin. A fusion of locked room mystery and ghost story with elements of witchcraft and reincarnation for good measure.

First published in 1937. A jacketed first would be several £thousands. An affordable and attractive alternative.
